An AK-47 on a Red Flag

Luis Lazaro Tijerina USA//12:13am, Apr 29th '22

I cannot imagine a golf club, on a flag proclaiming victory for the people,
Nor the white -collar worker
with his suburban house and trophy wife,
standing in silence for the martyred dead.
I cannot imagine an American’s President’s face
on a flag proclaiming victory for the people,
Nor the American bourgeoisie.
remembering with sympathy those who died
in the Great Patriotic War,
as they feel they are entitled to everything,
except Death.
I cannot imagine an American political pundit’s face.
on any flag,
their faces too crass to be put
on even garbage bags.
I imagine an image on a Red Banner,
flying in the wind--
The AK-47 with a burst of fire
